Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) and the Cosmetic Notification Form – Update
Health Canada’s Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist is a science-based list of prohibited and restricted ingredients which is frequently reviewed and updated. Prohibited ingredients should not be present in cosmetic products sold in Canada. Restricted ingredients are permitted only if the conditions of use and/or cautionary statement(s) are met as outlined.
Our goal is that any proposed changes to the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist are based on sound-science and risk-assessment and include a clear transition plan with appropriate timelines to avoid business disruptions for members.
CA’s strategy is to engage members in proposed changes to the Hotlist to gain insight on the issues created. We then advocate on behalf of industry for an appropriate transition plan and advise members accordingly.
