CA Presents at Cosmetics Europe Annual Conference – International Associations Collaboration Meets In-Person to Align Industry

Posted Date: 28-June-2023

CA’s Darren Praznik and Beta Montemayor were active participants in the first post-covid in-person Annual Conference of Cosmetics Europe.

Beta, who is CA’s resident environmental toxicologist (one of only four among our industry’s trade associations), played a leading role in representing CA in the meeting of the International Associations Collaboration (IAC) held in conjunction with the CE conference.  IAC is an informal collaboration of our industry’s trade associations and international companies from across the globe and serves to effectively coordinate and align our industry’s efforts on common issues (animal testing bans, micro-plastics, etc.), share limited resources and expertise, and proactively advance key industry objectives.  The group meets in-person in conjunction with the annual conferences of Cosmetic Europe and the U.S. Personal Care Products Council, as well as conducts web-based working group meetings throughout the year.

This years IAC meeting’s agenda can be found HERE.

Darren, who serves as CA’s representative on the Board of the International Collaboration on Cosmetics Safety, participated in a panel with ICCS President & CEO Erin Hill and other Board Members to introduce ICCS to Cosmetics Europe members.  Darren provided a “Big Picture” overview of the role that ICCS can play in positioning our industry as a world leader in the efforts to expand animal free testing including with animal advocates, government and policy makers, academics, and the public.

Other panelists included Kate Willet, Senor Director of Science & Regulatory Affairs at Humane Society International ; Gavin Maxwell, Safety Science Advocacy Director at Unilever; and Horst Wenck, Corporate Vice-President, R&D Global Product Stewardship at Beiersdorf.
