CA Continues Efforts to Create China Export Certificate – Would Eliminate Chinese Requirement for Animal Testing

Posted Date: 21-April-2021

CA Canada has been pursuing high-level discussions with government officials to establish a process to allow Canadian manufacturers/producers to take advantage of opportunities to waive animal testing provisions for cosmetic imports into China. This represents a significant opportunity for our brand and custom manufacturing members with operations in Canada.

We understand that the provision to enable this animal testing waiver will be implemented on May 1, 2021. Although discussions with officials have been  productive, we are still looking for details on how they can move this forward – including using existing DEL’s, NHP Site Licences or ISO certifications for manufacturing facilities. CA has asked members to help “keep the pressure on” by pushing for an interim process that could come into place on May 1, 2021 while Health Canada works on the details of a permanent formal process.

To that end, CA created a template letter for interested member companies to complete and send to officials imploring Health Canada to proceed with haste while highlighting what this opportunity could mean for Canadian business. The temple letter can be found HERE. CA has been copied on a number of letters sent to date and thank members for their timely action.
