Cosmetics Alliance has been able to reach a consensus proposal on legislative language for an animal testing ban on cosmetics under the Food & Drugs Act that could lead to the passing of a workable bill in Canada. The proposed consensus wording is based upon the principles of both the E.U. and California legislation, and tailored to work within the regulatory framework of the Canadian Food & Drugs Act.
Details can be found in the attached Briefing document. Consensus legislative language is, of course, not the end of the matter as the “Next Steps” section of the Briefing outlines. It is, however, a significant and critical milestone that makes the path towards acceptable legislation possible
