Posted Date: 19-March-2025

REMINDER - Federal Plastics Registry Phase 1 Reports Due September 29, 2026

March 12, 2025, an order amending the Domestic Substances List (DSL) to vary the requirements under the Significant New Activity (SNAc) provisions for epichlorohydrin (CAS RN 106-89-8) was published in the Canada Gazette. This amendment is part of the ongoing SNAc Review process. Earlier proposals for similar amendments were made for other substances: in July 2019, amendments for Acid Green 40:1 (CAS RN 70161-19-2) and ADIBSS (CAS RN 83006-67-1) were published for public comment, and in January 2017, amendments for thiourea (CAS RN 62-56-6) were also proposed. These amendments will not take effect until the final order is published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, and until then, existing requirements under the SNAc provisions remain in place. Additionally, two SNAN risk assessment summaries for epichlorohydrin have been published. Any members who require further information can reach out to the CA regulatory team at regulatory@cosmeticsalliance.ca or the department directly at substances@ec.gc.ca.
