The Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD) is actively working on updating natural health product (NHP) labeling.
The NNHPD is planning another engagement session for September. This session will involve industry associations and groups focused on consumers, patient safety, and research. The goal is to present proposed policy solutions for feedback, discuss data gaps, and outline future steps for guidance updates.
In the interim, the NNHPD is also working with the industry on a List of Interchangeable Terms (which was driven by CA’s ask for Health Canada to align with agreements under the CUSMA) and for the Monograph Attestation & Combination Guide. Did we communicate this already outside of PCMA? If not, need to include this detail here, along with the consultation documents. This list aims to offer flexibility in product labeling by allowing certain interchangeable terms or grammatical adjustments while keeping the original intent of monograph statements.
The NNHPD will share more details about the fall session and invitations later this summer.
