There has been an official correction of a long-standing error in the English version of the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Concentration Limits for Certain Products Regulations. This error was highlighted by Cosmetics Alliance Cananda. This win demonstrates the importance of diligent advocacy and collaboration between industry and government to ensure clear and accurate regulatory language.
The issue, which the Cosmetics Alliance identified and brought to the attention of the government back in 2022, concerned Item 11(ii) Personal Fragrance Products Subcategory of Schedule 1. At last, the regulation has now been officially corrected. Subcategory 11(ii) now clearly and accurately reads: “product containing fragrance greater than 20% based on net weight”.
