NNHPD Consultation on Two New Monographs

On March 3, 2025, Environment and Climate Change Canada released a fact sheet on the use of the moiety approach within the risk assessment process. This approach is used when certain chemicals can be grouped by a common part of the molecule that is of potential concern. Information gathered for exposure and effects of the moiety of concern are used as lines of evidence to determine whether the moiety has the potential to cause harm to the environment and/or human health. The Fact Sheet can be found here. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this publication, please reach out to the CA Team at regulatory@cosmeticsalliance.ca or to the department directly at susbtances@ec.gc.ca.
