The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has evaluated the safety of Cannabidiol (CBD) and its contaminant Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in cosmetic products, excluding those leading to inhalation exposure. The SCCS concluded that CBD is considered safe for use in both dermal (applied to the skin) and oral cosmetic products, whether used individually or combined, at concentrations up to 0.19%. Regarding the presence of THC as a contaminant in CBD preparations, the SCCS deemed it safe at concentrations up to 0.00025% in the final dermal and oral cosmetic products.
