The Regulations Amending Certain Regulations Concerning the Disclosure of Cosmetic Ingredients was published in Canada Gazette Part 2 today. The Cosmetics Regulation have been amended to add the disclosure of fragrance allergens by incorporation by reference from the European Restricted Substances List which includes the expanded list of fragrance allergens with flexibilities for digital labelling for small packages only. Cosmetics Alliance has had many discussions with the Consumer & Hazardous Safety Directorate (CHPSD) on fragrance allergen labelling and submitted extensive comments and key considerations to take into account. Regrettably, our comments were not taken into consideration.
We are still in the process of reviewing the Canada Gazette Notice in detail and we will be following-up with CHPSD to get further understanding on why our comments were not taken into consideration despite our extensive advocacy efforts. We will update membership on any developments. Stay tuned.
