NNHPD Consultation on Two New Monographs

On July 9, 2025, the Government of Canada launched a Red Tape Review across the federal regulatory system.

Today, those reports were tabled. Health Canada’s and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)’s review identifies opportunities to reduce red tape without compromising health and safety. This includes regulatory reform for new substances regulated under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999. These Regulations are administered jointly by Health Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada through the New Substances program. Here is Health Canada’s and Public Health Agency of Canada ‘s report of Red Tape Reduction.

The document repeatedly references a risk-based assessment framework, with the explicit aim of reducing the regulatory burden for products deemed to pose a lower risk.

Cosmetics Alliance is reviewing the report in detail and will provide members with a detailed breakdown of the report in a few days.
