There was recent publication in the Oxford Academic on Addressing The Challenges Of Acute Toxcity Hazard Classification Using A Non-Animal Derived Approach. The primary author of this article is a member of the International Collaboration of Cosmetics Safety (ICCS).
This article describes a new method for assessing how toxic chemicals are to fish, without using live animals. It combines three computer-based predictions and lab-grown fish cell data to produce a toxicity rating that matches standard safety classifications. This new approach is 80% accurate, offering a reliable alternative to traditional animal testing.
Beta Montemayor, Vice President of Cosmetics Alliance is also a member of ICCS. ICCS is continuing to drive innovation in Non-Animal Methods, actively working to facilitate regulatory adoption, build confidence in their reliability, and promote their widespread use.
