FDA Provides Highlights on Implementation of Landmark Cosmetics Legislation

FDA Clarifies It Does Not Provide Certificates or Other Documents to Verify Compliance for Cosmetic Product Facility Registration

On May 4th, the FDA posted an FDA Voices blog sharing how FDA is implementing the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) to positively impact public health. Over the last three years, the FDA has worked on implementing MoCRA and the results are:

 

  • Adverse events reported by industry increased by more than three-fold and are now publicly accessible through FDA’s new monitoring dashboard.
  • Registered cosmetic product facilities increased nearly three-fold (15K+ facilities now registered).
  • Cosmetic product listings increased by thirty-fold (1M+ products now tracked).
