On August 7, 2025, Environment and Climate Change Canada informed stakeholders that the lists in the Substance Search tool will now be updated on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The tool has also been improved to include a date displayed to the right of each option in the “lists or groups” drop-down menu. This date shows when that list or group was most recently revised. Please note that this date will not appear if you use the general “substance identifier” dropdown; you must select the “lists or groups” option to view it.
This change is welcome news for stakeholders who have been calling for more frequent updates and greater transparency in how the tool is maintained.
