The Primary and Secondary Sunscreen Monographs are soon to be opened up for revisions under the NNHPD’s Monograph Working Group.  Given this, Cosmetics Alliance planted the seed with the NNHPD several months ago that incorporation of these two new methods into the monographs would be ideal at this time.

In December 2024, the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) published two new methods for measuring the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of cosmetic products.  One is the Double Plate in vitro Method (DPM), the other is the Hybrid Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (HDRS).

The CTPA (UK Cosmetics Trade Association) is hosting a webinar as follows:

Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2025

Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm EST

Cost: Free

This free webinar for members and non-members will explain the technicalities of these new ISO methods to measure the SPF of cosmetic products.

We encourage you to sign-up for this webinar.  If you are unable to attend the virtual event given the time difference, the webinar will be posted on-line afterward.
