This initiative is designed to reduce regulatory requirements, administrative red tape, and barriers to business within the hemp industry, while still maintaining essential controls to ensure public health and safety. Key topics open for discussion include refining the definition of industrial hemp, streamlining the licensing and cultivation processes, revising import/export rules, adjusting THC concentration testing, updating record-keeping requirements, and managing the List of Approved Cultivars. Stakeholders can submit their comments via email until the consultation closes on June 30, 2026, after which any formal regulatory proposals will be pre-published for a secondary round of public feedback. Cosmetics Alliance will not be taking part in this consultation as this does not effect cosmetics and personal care products.
