The Consumer Product Safety Program (CPSP) conducted a Compliance Verification project during the 2024–2025 fiscal year to ensure cosmetic products containing eucalyptus oil met the standards of the Food and Drugs Act and the Cosmetic Regulations. To assess adherence to the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist, Health Canada inspectors completed a market survey of Canadian manufacturers, importers, and retailers, followed by online and in-person visual inspections of relevant product labeling. Out of 96 products evaluated, 41 of which were imported, 30 resulted in stop distributions and 31 required commitments from companies to fix non-compliance issues, while 35 products met all regulatory requirements with no corrective action needed.
