On March 8, 2025, Environment and Climate Change Canada proposed that Boric acid, its salts and its precursors meet the CEPA Section 64 criteria for listing on Schedule 1, Part 2 of CEPA. The Updated Draft Assessment and Revised Risk Management Scope documents were also released. Risk management options may include a review and/or update to the entry for boric acid on the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist, to limit the exposure of infants and young children to boric acid from cosmetics. Additional restrictions for drugs and natural health products were not mentioned in the documents. The public comment period on the proposed Schedule 1 listing is open until May 7, 20025.
