ATTENTION: CA Member Companies Affected by Tariffs & Counter-Tariffs – We Need to Hear from You!

Posted Date: 5-October-2026

Your Cosmetics Alliance team needs to hear from your company if you are affected by the tariffs and counter-tariffs.  This applies to:

  • Companies manufacturing in Canada who are experiencing counter-tariffs on manufacturing inputs from the U.S.;
  • Canadian-based manufacturers (both brand & custom manufacturers) whose Canadian production is being negatively affected by U.S. tariffs or the trade war uncertainty is depressing future orders; or
  • Companies importing product from the U.S. and subject to Canadian counter-tariffs.

Cosmetics Alliance is currently assessing the viability of requesting assistance from the Canadian government in two ways:

  • Requesting federal financial assistance to assist Canadian-based cosmetic manufacturing facilities with any capital equipment or other upgrades required to facilitate accommodating additional cosmetic manufacturing (volumes or new production lines) in Canada.  This would support companies wishing to divert manufacturing to Canada to avoid counter-tariffs, and or support exports to the many jurisdictions with which Canada has, or is negotiating, free trade agree agreements; and
  • Where manufacturing is being diverted to Canadian facilities for a suitable period, seek all or partial relief from Canadian counter-tariffs while this manufacturing is being transferred to a Canadian facility (either owned or with a custom manufacturer).

Should there be sufficient interest by CA member companies, your CA team will pursue this matter with federal government authorities.

It is therefore VERY IMPORTANT that you let us know if these proposals could be of benefit to your company.  Any information which you provide will be kept in confidence.

Please provide any responses to Susan Nieuwhof at snieuwhof@cosmeticsalliance.ca.
