CA’s Spring Member Briefing and Networking Breakfast Events

Toronto Recap

CA hosted a networking breakfast at NielsenIQ’s offices in North York on March 26, bringing together over 70 industry professionals for a morning of insights, discussion, and connection. The event featured a strong lineup of speakers, including Francis Parisien from NielsenIQ, who shared the latest data on the Canadian beauty market, including key trends, performance insights, and the broader impact of ongoing trade dynamics.

This was followed by Anne Coqueugniot from TikTok Canada, who spoke to evolving consumer behaviour and the growing influence of digital platforms, highlighting how brands can better connect with audiences through authentic, engaging content.

The session concluded with remarks from Susan Larkin of Look Good Feel Better, who spoke about the growing importance of cause marketing and the role the beauty industry can play in supporting meaningful initiatives, highlighting the impact of partnerships like Look Good Feel Better Canada.

Montreal Recap

The Montreal event, held on April 10, brought together another ~ 70 industry professionals for a dynamic morning focused on commercialization, innovation, and industry trends.

Francis Parisien and Pierre-Marc Denault from NielsenIQ shared insights on shifting consumer behaviour, noting increased price sensitivity, with only 17% of Canadians feeling they can spend freely and a growing reliance on promotions across beauty categories .

Vadim Côté from Junifia spoke about the rapid evolution of AI, emphasizing that it should be a top priority for organizations, while maintaining strong quality control and brand alignment .

Jason Moscovici provided a legal update on advertising and marketing in cosmetics, covering topics such as greenwashing, influencer marketing, and evolving Competition Act considerations, with a focus on ensuring claims are substantiated and not misleading .

Anne Coqueugniot from TikTok Canada shared platform insights, highlighting strong growth in Canada, with increased content creation and engagement, and how “attention chosen” by users drives stronger brand impact .

The session also included a presentation from Vania Aguiar, Publisher and Editor in Chief of Cosmetics Magazine, who introduced the redesigned Spring Issue and its refreshed editorial direction.
