Health Canada is proposing a temporary Ministerial Order to exempt certain natural health products (NHPs) from new labeling regulations set to take effect in Juin 2025. This move is in response to industry concerns about implementation challenges, particularly regarding fitting required information on labels without compromising readability.
The Ministerial Order would temporarily allow newly licensed NHPs (between Juin 2025 and 2028) to use the previous labeling requirements. This provides time for Health Canada to develop solutions, including potential alternative flexibilities and digital labeling options.
Health Canada will continue consultations with stakeholders before finalizing and publishing the Ministerial Order. The exemption is intended to be temporary, lasting until Juin 2028. Cosmetics Alliance will be participating in these continued consultations and is engaged with the NNHPD on what this extension means for stakeholders.
