The NNHPD is planning to revise the fish oil and other marine oil monographs in Septembre 2026.
Industry has requested greater flexibility regarding the declaration of omega-3 fatty acid content as the availability of fish oil and other marine oils can fluctuate in the marketplace, which may necessitate product reformulations to maintain desired quantities and ratios of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). This revision is to help address these challenges by providing greater formulation flexibility while ensuring that products continue to meet the established conditions of use and claim requirements.
