We received official word that Phase 2 and 3 of the Federal Plastics Registry have been “deferred”. Based on feedback from stakeholders (CA Canada and many others) the government has indicated that they will take the time to consider a more efficient and responsive system that works better for everyone. Official notice is expected to be published in winter 2026. The government has promised ample opportunity for stakeholder input.
*** Please note that this does not impact Phase 1 reporting. Companies must continue to report under Phase 1 of the Notice with respect to reporting of plastic resins and certain plastic products for the Federal Plastics Registry for 2024, 2025 and 2026.***
