Consultation sur la classification des produits topiques contenant des exosomes d'origine humaine

Date de publication : 26-Août-2025

Mandat du SCCS concernant l'hydroxycitronellal et l'acide glyoxylique

Health Canada has issued a Notice of Intent regarding Health Canada’s position on the classification of topical products containing human-derived exosomes, extracellular vesicles, and/or human cell-conditioned media. While the Notice outlines how such products may be regulated as either cosmetics or drugs under the Food and Drugs Act, Health Canada has not yet clearly defined what constitutes an exosome or provided concrete examples of exosomes.

Cosmetics Alliance is awaiting this clarity and, in the meantime, will be working with our PCMA (Product Compliance & Market Access Committee) and RAIS (Risk Assessment & Ingredient Safety Committee) committees to prepare comments on the Notice.

Members interested in participating in this consultation are encouraged to email regulatory@cosmeticsalliance.ca to join either the PCMA and/or RAIS committee. A committee meeting will be scheduled for the week of Septembre 8th to coordinate committee input. The consultation closes Octobre 28th.
