On Juillet 30, 2025, Brazil published Law N° 15.183/25, prohibiting the use of animals for testing personal care, cosmetics, perfumery products, and their ingredients. The announcement was shared during ICCR (International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation), which ABIHPEC (Brazilian Industry Association of Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrances) and ANVISA (the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) were in Canada attending ICCR. With this milestone, the ban on animal testing in the cosmetics sector is now firmly embedded in the Brazilian legal framework, consolidating a practice that the industry had already moved way from more than a decade ago. This landmark achievement results from continuous, coordinated efforts led by ABIHPEC in close collaboration with key stakeholders. It marks a significant ethical, scientific, and regulatory advancement, aligning Brazil with global trends and reaffirming the industry’s commitment to developing modern, safe, and sustainable alternatives for product assessment.
